Two Cameroonians shot dead in Cape Town, South Africa

Keneth Mbah and Oben Keneth Mbah and Oben

Two Cameroonian residents in Cape Town, capital of the Western Cape Province in South Africa, met their untimely deaths on Thursday night, September 10, 2015.

They have been identified as Mbah Kenneth alias Douglas and Oben. The police reports indicated that a group of armed men arrived at a shop which was owned by Oben, located in Parow Cape Blanc area.

The gunmen opened fire, killing Keneth Mbah, who came to visit Oben, instantly,” said Solomon Amabo, our colleague who has lived in South Africa for about three years. The bodies of the two Cameroonians have been kept in a mortuary in Cape Town, pending repatriation by their respective families.

The assassins, who are wanted by the police, are still at large. Two years ago, also in September, a Cameroonian named Youta Alphonse had been coldly shot on the street of Johannesburg, capital of the province of Gauteng. An assassination attributed to ‘highwaymen’ by the South African authorities.

These crimes confirmed the sad reputation that makes South Africa one of the most dangerous countries in the world.

“The crime rate is very high here. You know, armed civilians against the regime of apartheid are still not all disarmed. Gunmen deflect and steal cars even during the day. The danger is everywhere in the nine provinces of South Africa, especially in the large cities. In the latest report from termini steriel on Migration reported that since January 2015, 58 policemen were killed mostly by bandits,” said Solomon Amabo.
