Two Cameroonian soldiers were killed by a rocket explosion on Thursday while on their way to the village of Bodo in the Department of Logone-Et-Chari of the Far North region.

According to a source, Guibai Gatama, the soldiers were members of the rapid intervention battalion (Bir), an elite unit of the Cameroonian army and identified only as Baima and Abdoul. 23 other soldiers were also wounded.

The same source added that the soldiers were on a mission to Blamé, where Boko Haram elements on motorcycles had raided and stolen livestock, food and mobile phones a few hours earlier.

Since the beginning of the war, 1,500 Cameroonian children have been abducted by Boko Haram.
