Turkey to build Cameroon airport

Turkey has offered to build an airport in Cameroon to contribute toward the industrialization of the country.

This was made clear by Turkish Ambassador Omer Faruk Dogan at a meeting with the authorities in Cameroon.

The diplomat, who was accompanied by businesspeople, including the vice-chairman of the MNG Holding, the company that built the third airport in the Turkish capital Istanbul, reiterated a promise he had previously made to that effect.

We were received by President Paul Biya to discuss the implementation of some infrastructure projects in Cameroon. At the time, we talked about the construction of a dam and an airport. Today, the MNG Group is offering to build the proposed airport, he explained.

Cameroon’s Transport minister assured the Turks that the project will be handled with the utmost seriousness.

We will set up a working group with all stakeholders of the air transport sector, to decide the next step, Robert Nkili pointed out.

At this juncture, the site where such a futurist airport facility would be built is being kept a secret, although sources close to the project said it could be in Douala.
