Total statistics of attacks by Boko Haram in six months

To take a stock of incursions by Boko Haram, now Islamic state in West Africa, over six months is a tedious exercise engaged in by L'Oeil du Sahel (LDS) on 15 October 2015.

The paper presented the current situation, with figures, of the horrors of this nebula in the Far northern Cameroon between April and September of this year.

The attacks have spread throughout the region except the department of Mayo Kani. The newspaper notes that "The death toll in administrative units, during this period, is not proportional to the isolated attacks by the sect.

The Mayo-Sava, with nearly 80 dead, is leading this macabre ranking; Logone and Chari with more than sixty victims. Then comes the Diamaré with about 36 people in just five attacks, while the Mayo-Tsanaga displayed 27 victims recorded in 12 attacks ... ".

These figures do not take into account the ten killed by Cameroonian military. We must also add forty deaths of terrorists. In this very heavy human toll, adding a material balance is not negligible.

"The looting of livestock by members of Boko Haram is systematic, hence the high number of killed and wounded shepherds. Solely on the basis of this assessment, hundreds of cattle herds, goats and sheep have blithely crossed the border between Cameroon and Nigeria between April and September 2015," writes LDS.

The biweekly also reveals the figures for different attacks: "Three departments namely the Logone and Chari, Mayo-Sava and Mayo-Tsanaga. The first administrative unit has identified no less than 36 attacks, the second 52 and the third 12. However, the Diamaré joined the small circle, albeit at a snail's pace, with five listed attacks. The Mayo-Danay records, for its part, only one major event linked to Boko Haram."

These figures are worrying. The announced arrival of 300 American soldiers therefore comes at the right time.
