Three officers in Manwi suspended for laxity

Accused of laxity, three officers have been punished by the Governor of the region of Adamaoua.

On Wednesday, the Governor of Adamawa region communicated his displeasure to the officers three of who fell victim to his disciplinary measures.

While expected to report at the regional delegation of public works of Adamawa where he had to chair a meeting of the regional Committee for monitoring of the operation at the weighing station at Manwi, Abakar Ahamat surprised the officers at post.

He rather visited Manwi weighing station located a few kilometres from Dang on Garoua road, to evaluate the operations there.

On the eve of his visit, the number 1 of the Adamawa region, had received information that three trucks stocked with building materials bound for Chad had bypassed Manwi weighing station without following due process.

In addition to their tonnage which was not in conformity with the standards, these heavy-duty, subsequently bypassed the police, were under hit and run.

According to reports they had to honour a fine is 500,000 F For this offence. They did not comply with the tonnage, have been detained by the authorities leading the escape of the drivers.

They were however later caught and taken to the gendarmerie of Adamawa where they are immobilized. Although the first objective of weighing is not to generate revenue, this expertly organized fraud, causes the state to lose more than 6 million estimated by specialty services.

The Governor requested that the three officers on duty the day before at Manwi should be suspended.

He was the team leader in a framework for the delegation of public works and two employees of the Foti Sarl Company, responsible for maintenance and the maintenance of the weighing Post Manwi.

The Governor has called for thorough investigation into the matter by the regional follow-up Committee for the operation at the weighing station.
