Three billion FCFA already recovered by the SCC

Tribunal spécial (TCS) Tribunal spécial (TCS)

129 cases under investigations have been sent to the specialized body of police officers of the Special Criminal Court (SCC) and 115 cases have been entered for investigation with 223 indictments and 40 dismissed.

41 cases have been decided upon to discontinue proceedings with 3,140 billion CFA francs in refund under corpus delicti, 146 sentences of imprisonment, assorted fines and court costs, 78 acquittals. 30 billion F in damages have been pronounced in compensation for damage suffered by the State.

These are the findings in the books of the SCC, an institution created to provide a response to corrupt acts on the public wealth.

Laurent Esso, Minister of State, Minister of Justice has instructed the Attorney General to strive to gain a stronger institution. "The creation of SCC, he recalled, is an answer to those who thought that the damage to public property, with impunity, were one of the attributes of their appointments."

Despite numerous warnings from the head of state, some continue to interpret in their own way the famous Article 2 of appointment acts which states that the person promoted to a position "will be entitled to benefits in kind provided by current regulations".

The creation of the Special Criminal Court "removes all ambiguity on the matter," stressed the Minister of State for which the results presented shows that the institution is working.

However, this statement should not be the tree that hides the forest. "One set of concerns are expressed in the functioning of our courts. They are not necessarily well rooted and not necessarily all exaggerated," acknowledged Laurent Esso who condemned unprofessional acts by some judges.

To Ngounou Tchokonthieu Justine Aimée, he said her arrival at the TCS is supposed to bring a new breath. Her 30-year career gives her the upper hand.
