The wife of Marafa appeals to Hollande

Jeannette Marafa appealed to French president François Hollande for a medical evacuation of her husband, Marafa Hamidou Yaya.

She made the appeal this weekend on TV5, calling on the french president. who will soon visit Cameroon, to intervene for the medical evacuation of her husband expressing concern for his health.

"For over ten days Marafa has been in a hospital suffering from heart and sight problems. There is no confidence in the medical examination being done. I call on president Paul Biya for humanitarian reasons to evacuate Marafa to get treatment. Biya knows that Marafa is a man of honour and belief," adding that she hoped the presence of Francois Hollande may advance her cause.

Marafa Hamidou Yaya, former Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic and all-powerful Minister of Territorial Administration, was sentenced in September 2012 to 25 years in prison for intellectual complicity in the context of a presidential aircraft. He was acknowledged as a political prisoner by the international community.
