Security forces deployed in Mora have carried out systematic search of persons, property and some public places for fear of an attack on Thursday, July 23.
This allowed many without identification to be questioned, including women suspected of being potential terrorists.
“Mora is under siege. For fear of another terrorist hysteria, security forces have been ordered to intensify security measures in Mayo Sava’s capital,” said the prefect, Akaou Babila.
"Four of the alleged suicide bombers were from Nigeria. They were in possession of objects that were believed to be explosives," a source told the Messenger.
The search of merchants and suspected persons were over but careful and systematic searches of homes were also performed by order from the Minister for the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defence.
Until late afternoon yesterday, it was unclear whether the search operation had resulted in finding caches of weapons or explosive devices.
Suspected female suicide bombers were detained at undisclosed places for investigation.
Faced with this new form of threat, new security measures are operational throughout the main cities of the Far North. They will intensify security measures strategically to prepare for any unexpected attack.
