The commander of the multinational force to be on the ground

The meeting of heads of staff of the Commission of the Lake Chad Basin and Benin in the fight against Boko Haram ended on Saturday in N'Djamena, Chad.

The conference in the Chadian capital has enabled participating countries to finalize the analysis by each country.

Discussed were the number of staff for the Joint Multinational Force (FMM), financing and strategic details on operations in the field.

As a reminder, the DMF has a workforce of 8700 men, as the heads of state of member countries have endorsed the members of the Council for Peace and Security countries (COPAX) of Central Africa during the meeting held in Cameroon in February.

The Joint Multinational Force are expected to be on the field in the coming days. The Nigerian, General Issa Illiya Abba, will undertake a tour of inspection of deployment of troops in the various sectors concerned.

Thus in the case of Cameroon, he will travel to Mora, Mayo-Sava department in the Far North Region which is under the command of Brigadier General Bouba Dobekréo. After, he will visit Gambaru in Nigeria and Baga on the shores of Lake Chad. The tour by the Force Commander will simultaneously take place for the deployment of troops on the ground.

"It is time to convey the multinational joint force from the various structures. Necessary arrangements must be made as soon as possible to properly disseminate its areas of responsibility to eradicate these illuminated Boko Haram in our communities," said General Mahamat Seid Brahim, the Chief of Staff of the Chadian army at the opening of the meeting on Thursday.

Cameroon has already appointed its representatives to the Joint Multinational Force who’s second in command is Brigadier Valere Nka.
