Press Statement John Kirby Department Spokesperson Washington, DC September 4, 2015

The United States strongly condemns the horrific and indiscriminate attacks on September 3 on the central market and residential neighborhood of Kerawa, Cameroon, and the September 1 attacks on two villages in the Damboa Local Government Area in Borno State, Nigeria that killed more than two dozen civilians. We extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of all those killed, and hope for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Boko Haram's indiscriminate targeting of men, women and children continues to highlight the group's senseless brutality. We remain committed to working closely with Cameroon, Nigeria, and the other Lake Chad Basin countries to defeat Boko Haram.
