The Joint Force encounters its first attack from Boko Haram

A security source, contacted by Cameroon-info.net, has revealed that alleged members of Boko Haram carried out an incursion in Bargaram, a town in the Department of Logone and Chari (Extreme North) 7 km from Nigeria, on Saturday night.

The incident occurred before the double suicide attack in Kolofata, which is approximately 45km away.

Our source, who is a member of the Cameroon National Navy, reported that heavily armed terrorists entered the Bargaram village on at least 200 horses.

After a fierce fight, our source said that at least seven assailants were killed and weapons were seized. "We killed about 7 assailants. Boko Haram does not like to leave behind the bodies of its soldiers. They fled with several corpses in their carts. When we did the mopping up after the fight, we found seven Boko Haram bodies. We lost no soldier,” noted our source before recounting the story of this umpteenth episode of the war between the countries of the Lake Chad Basin Commission with the Islamist sect, Boko Haram.

"It was 2:58 am when they arrived from Nigeria. That night, they thought they would take us by surprise. But they were the ones who were surprised. The battle lasted for 4hrs 30 minutes before they decided to retreat. In the morning when the authorities arrived, each house was searched to ensure that no member of Boko Haram was hiding in the village.

In this mopping up operation, we arrested 200 people; Chadians, Malian, and Nigerian who had no documents. "The sub-prefect and the military leaders decided that all those without documents will be repatriated as early as Monday, September 14, 2015," indicated our source who just had his baptism of fire in this war against Boko Haram.

"I am part of the 700 Cameroonians of the joint military detachment of the Navy on behalf of the Multinational Force. We settled here on August 12, 2015 pending the official deployment of this Force. This is the first time that we have been attacked, but we are well prepared and determined to defeat these criminals,” concluded our source.
