Cameroonian lawn tennis hopefuls, Linda and Manuella Eloundou left the country earlier this week for assessments to join an academy.

In Cameroon, they are called the ‘Eloundou twins’. Aged 13 years, the two sisters made lawn tennis a passion in 2010. They evolved while practicing singles and doubles. They have been praised by many and countries want them to be representatives at the African championships (Nigeria and Togo in particular).

The twins left for Washington DC in the United States where they will have to pass admission tests to enroll at the ‘Junior Tennis Champions Center’ from July 3 to August 2.

However, aside the medical tests, they will be subject to Cameroonian sports and school tests. Also when they get admitted, they will be awarded a 60% Sports / management studies scholarship by the Academy.

In January, the young Cameroonians took part in three international youth tournaments in Florida in the United States. They came 7th out of 64 according to their manager, Gaspard Eloundou, who is also their father. He said the girls caught the eye of agents of some academies, including that of Washington.

Gaspard Eloundou's daughters have been quarter finalists at the last African championship of under 16 in Tunisia in March.

Their experience in Tunisia enabled them win the National Junior Open ‘La Pasta’ in April; title that was added to other previous laurels.
