The Cameroonian army registers 1,500 new recruits

The Cameroonian army has registered 1,500 new soldiers after months of training and preparation towards defending the country.

The young soldiers were commissioned on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the training Centre of the armed forces in Ngaoundal, Adamaoua region.

From five training companies at three inspections each, these young soldiers have undergone both the basic and intense military training for three months; the tight order, fighting with automatic and semi-automatic weapons, obstacle course, just to mention a few.

In the end, exactly 1488 new recruits were commissioned including 228 females out of 978 troops and 510 student gendarmes.

General Philippe Mpay, Commander of schools and joint Training Centres who presided over the ceremony of presentation of the recruits presented the values and the symbols of the Republic in his speech.

The main recommendation to the young soldiers is for them to "go to the extent of extreme sacrifice in order to defend the integrity of the territory".

The statement is at the time where Cameroon faces external attacks, including that of the Islamic sect Boko Haram in the North of the country.

Now guarantors of national unity and the integrity of the territory, it was recommended to the young soldiers to "love the flag at any place and in any circumstance, and serve with honour and loyalty".

For their part, the young soldiers pledged the traditional oath: to defend their country in obedience, loyalty, honour and fidelity. They performed several demonstrations of mounting and dismantling of small arms.
