Most of the text books, for the 2015/2016 academic year and whose classes start in less than two weeks, are lacking on the market, according to APA.

According to the National Union of Booksellers Cameroon (NACS), the shortage is due to a recent order for books, after the late publication of the required text books for the academic year, by the National Book Committee (CNL).

This is a government authority controlled by the Ministry of Basic Education (MINEDUB) and Ministry of Secondary Education (MINESEC) whose responsibility is to choose the textbooks to enroll in the program within a year.

According to some booksellers, "the books are still in the vessels and are expected this week at the port of Douala. Once they arrive, they will be put into the distribution channel and it is hoped that all the textbooks will be available before school, which is scheduled for Monday September 7, 2015.”

At the moment, schools and libraries are not crowded due to most parents citing the "lack of money" for shopping.

However, with salaries being paid by the public service on Tuesday, everything suggests that the market for the new school year will soon be active.
