Terrorism: Nearly 300 missing children in Nord

Almost 300 children have gone missing in the far North of Cameroon were kidnapped to serve as human bombs to Boko Haram.

According to L’Anecdote, the age range was from 9 to 14 years. These children were forcibly taken from their families or kidnapped by members of the Boko Haram sect in search of suicide bombers.

“Every time they attacked, they took away the youth from the village. Many of our children are missing. We have no news of them. They are all young people, regardless of the gender," said an octogenarian in search of his two children gone missing since the last Kerawa attack.

According to him, about 20 youth disappeared a week. The villages of Greya and Mozozo in the Mayo Tsanaga division are the most targeted.

“They use these children as shields during attacks. They indoctrinate children to use them as human bombs," said a senior of the Cameroonian army in patrol at Kerawa.

“They have lost much of their elements over the past three months. The terrorists of the Boko Haram sect seeks new blood. To increase their workforce, the nebula wants to renew their troops to continue to terrorize the population," he added.

For populations, the most obvious solution is the Exile. “By dint of seeing our children leave, we are obliged to leave our villages because we do not know what they will become. If Boko Haram brainwashes their brains to inculcate their barbarous philosophy, they will come back certainly to kill us," feared a village chief.

For him, the followers who come to sow terror in the villages are the children who once lived with their parents.
