Technology: Female mayors enlightened

Twenty-eight female Mayors in Cameroon have been drilled in a two-day computer awareness seminar at the African Institute of Computer Sciences in Nkolanga, Yaounde.

The seminar that started on the 23rd of September is organized by the African Institute of Computer Sciences with the aim of exposing Cameroonian women especially members of African Network for Local Women in Politics, to the computer world.

The President of the Cameroon branch of the African Network for Local Women in Politics, Celestine Ketcha who also is the mayor of Bagante, during the colloquium lauded the Institute for educating the female mayors on ICTs as way of improving management of funds in local councils.

Madame Ketcha Celestine and her female colleagues expressed the wish to be connected to similar female networks in Africa and the world at large.

She applauded the female mayors for showing interest in the forum especially with the presence of four new members.

The representative of the African Institute of Computer Sciences in Cameroon, Armand Claude Abanda used the platform to declare the free nature of subsequent seminars in the domain.

Mr Armand Claude also expressed the need to bring in experts from Europe to transmit ideas and strengthen the Local Women’s Network.

By the end of the two-day computer forum, the female mayors must have acquired skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Calculus, Internet and lastly research as a development tool in local councils.
