The Governor of Maroua, Midjiyawa Bakary, held a security meeting which was attended by the defense forces, the forces of order (police), traditional leaders, religious leaders, municipal magistrates, and many other personalities in relation to the third suicide attack in Maroua, capital of the Far North Region.

Before the meeting this morning, the Parton of the Extreme North region and his staff inspected the site where the incident occurred, the day before, and proceeded to the premises of the Regional Hospital. After this tour, the governor, Midjiyiwa Bakari, held a press conference during which he revealed the measures taken to preserve peace and close public places on time to stop acts of terrorism.

"We decided that bars and shops by the street will close no later than 18h (6:00pm). Landlords should affirm all tenants especially new ones occupying their houses. We will minimize the activities of places of worship. Motorcycles will no longer be permitted to carry three people. We will conduct a systematic review of the city by day and at night, suspicious persons and children roaming about at closed areas will be arrested. In places of high concentration such as destroyed markets, Mayors and the Government Delegate were asked to rebuild them. The municipal police must take charge within the markets in synergy with the police and gendarme," said Bakari Midjiyiwa.

Commenting on the results of the attack on Saturday, the governor of the Far North region stated yesterday morning that the death toll was 21 dead. Updates on those injured rose from 66 to 85 and those in critical conditions were sent to hospitals in Yaoundé.
