State, USAID visitors partner with Cameroonians

Mr. Stevie Hamilton, U.S. Department of State official from the Office of the Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy in Washington, D.C.; and Garrett Searle (fourth from left) from the USAID West Africa office based in Accra, Ghana; visited Cameroon from February 1 through 6 where they met with Government of the Republic of Cameroon and civil society members to underscore the United States’ partnership with this nation.

Their visit included a round table session with Cameroonian civil society and government leaders in their field, including alumni from President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and the Africa Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP).

The program also included the participation of U.S. Embassy staff, including Public Affairs Officer Roberto Quiroz II and Cultural Affairs Specialist Gladys Viban.

“As President Obama has said, this is a moment of promise for Africa. The United States places a high priority on our partnership with African youth – especially women and girls - because their talents, ideas, and contributions will build a future of prosperity for this continent and her citizens,” said Mr. Hamilton.
