Serenity, security prevail in the Far North

This was the observation made last Thursday and Friday at the meeting of the Administrative Coordination Committee in Kaele.

Within 48 hours, i.e. the 25 and 26 June, the security and development issues of the Far North region were hotly debated at Kaélé on the occasion of the Regional Committee of Administrative Coordination (ACC) and the foundations of security Coordinating Committee and law enforcement (CCO).

The capital of the Mayo-Kani Department hosted Far North administrative, municipal, judicial and military officials at the initiative of the governor of the region, Midjiyawa Bakari. Traditional leaders were also a part of the meeting.

The objective of this major deployment was to scan the activities and problems of the whole region throughout the first half of 2015.

Before starting the work, the governor Midjiyawa Bakari set the stage by giving a background while justifying security was a top priority. The department of Mayo-Kani, which until today enjoys some quietness, compared to others, would benefit every effort to preserve this peace.

Regarding the work of the Regional Committee of administrative coordination, 12 communications have opened discussions with the aim of stopping recommendations. "Generally, we accept that the region has been seriously shaken by instability because of the attacks of the fighters of the Nigerian Boko Haram. This has impacted the daily lives causing numerous disturbances."

Several customs posts based at the border were relocated, schools were closed, many IDPs were registered and 40,000 refugees have been registered in Minawao. Against all odds, despite the drop in customs revenues, tax revenues have experienced a realization of 123, 08% in the amount of FCFA 2,207,300,000.

So far, the Far North is the region that attracts more attention at national and international level. Outside of specific emergency plan to the educational community of the Far North which will soon come up, it is learned that several large projects will soon be launched.

Regarding the work of the Coordinating Committee of Security and Law Enforcement (CCO) focused on security, this body that is taking place in camera comprises the prefects, heads of law enforcement forces and specialized services.

From what has been gathered, it is noted that despite significant victories over fighters Boko Haram, it is time for vigilance. The defense forces will increase the strategies to neutralize the new operating methods of the Islamist sect.
