Senior army officer shoots himself in the head in Bamenda

57 years old, Colonel Eyong Tambong Ebot has committed suicide after 29 years of loyal service to the nation.

The senior army officer, before his death, was the head of the 22nd Motorized Infantry Brigade, the main defense of the army profession.

The daily La Nouvelle Expression disclosed on Friday, September 4, 2015 that, he rushed into his office once he arrived at the garrison. After sometime, military residents around heard the sound of a fired gun and rushed into his office where they saw the body lying in a pool of blood with the muzzle pointed at his head.

The military immediately alerted the hierarchy of the Armed Forces. A source of the newspaper said the investigation opened by the gendarmerie would go further to understand the motives of the suicide.

As the head of the 22nd Brim since March 14 2015, he was the pioneer of this brigade in the North West Region.
