Senate - Cooperation Prospects With France Discussed

The President of the Senate on Thursday received the Ambassador of France to Cameroon.

The Ambassador of France to Cameroon, Bruno Gain says his country was pleased to see the putting in place of the Senate in Cameroon done after a flawless election. He was speaking Thursday, July 4, 2013 at the Ngoa-Ekelle Parliament building after paying a courtesy visit to the President of Cameroon's pioneer Senate, Marcel Niat Njifenji.

"I discussed with the Senate President the prospects of cooperation between the French Parliament and the new Senate," Ambassador Bruno Gain told reporters, adding that, " I wanted to tell him how France was pleased to see this new step in the democratic process in Cameroon." He stated that the Senate was a source of great satisfaction for France.

Ambassador Bruno Gain pledged that France which has a bicameral parliamentary tradition was ready to cooperate with the Senate of Cameroon to strengthen its capacity and develop closer ties between the French Parliament and that of Cameroon. It was within this context that the French diplomat said he was glad to congratulate Marcel Niat Njifenji on his election as the President of Cameroon's Senate.
