Security assured in conflict areas for Baccalauréat 2015

With the aid of air logistics supported by the Mindef, some representatives were sent on a mission to inspect the effectiveness of the written tests.

On board the MI 17, Cameroonian army and a team of journalists mobilized and supervised by the Région militaire interarmées n°4 made their first landing in Makary, capital of the Makary district which is 125 km from Kousseri between the Chari and Logone deparments.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2015 the second day of baccalaureate, the written test was done in Markary on the school playground.

Simon Taidjaré Taoists, the Tle A4 firmly believes that this year’s examination results will be the best with the assistance of the ENS Maroua.

The exanimation centre was classified as the "red zone" because of insecurity orchestrated by the Boko Haram sect. 65 candidates were registered at this centre.

Despite the hostility, the headmaster, Athanasius Ayida Ayida boosted the morale of his students. He said after 20 years, the center in Makary has been renovated and welcomed applicants from Blangoua high school.

Makary was not affected by the attacks of Boko Haram but there were orchestrated attacks in nearby areas including Bargaram, Fotokol Bodo placing its inhabitants in a state of shock. "This city is thus the promised land for many students displaced from the surrounding schools," he added.

The bulk of the candidates moved from Logone and Chari to Kousseri in a mixed school for the Baccalauréat. The headmaster, Bicher Moussa said 315 candidates were registered but six were absent.

In the school premises, the security apparatus is minimal. "The school has a self-defense system," says the head of the institution. The school welcomed 228 "displaced" students of all classes from Fotokol, Bodo, Waza, Limani and Kolofata. Among them, ten enrolled in the final year.

To facilitate the reception of these newcomers, the school has received a drill and a latrine block under the President's Emergency Plan.

At Mayo-Sava, the Classical High School of Mora also wrote the bac with 378 candidates. According to the headmaster Edward Sadou, six candidates were absent. An establishment hosted 'displaced' candidates from high schools in Limani, Kolofata and Kerawa.

This department was a target of several terrorist attacks but incursion measures deployed by government have resulted in a blank year.

The Mozogo High School centre has 119 registered candidates with two absent. Only one candidate comes from the high school Limani.

The situation is calmer at Mogodé, about forty kilometers from Mokolo where the candidates writing are 76. Two displaced candidates absent are from high schools in Tchéré and Limani.
