What could have been akin to a traditional handshake quickly turned into a working session at the Ministry of Secondary Education (MINESEC) as Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe, the new head of the ministry, was keen to achieve the goals set by the Head of State, Paul Biya.

By meeting with his central and decentralized staff yesterday, he listened to the presentations of their projects and programs. In a friendly atmosphere but with a firm tone, the Minister expressed his expectations.

"It will be very difficult to achieve the objectives if staff tamper with attendance and punctuality. Work begins at 7:30 am and ends 15h 30min. It is not to spend eight hours at work. But to do eight hours of work," he advised them. In detail, the minister called on his colleagues to respect existing laws.

The MINESEC in seeking the improvement of staff working conditions said he "prescribe consolidation of services to avoid their current fragmentation. I am also seeking a human resource management based on objective criteria to achieve more with limited resources," insisted Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe.

On another level, the new MINESEC invited staff to do everything possible to improve the performance of students and promote good governance. This is because his ministry oversees thousands of schools across the national triangle hence the need for a reliable school mapping.

To the Director of Human Resources, the Minister sought to ensure the mobility of teachers to avoid long stays in the same position. Although Mahama Mahamat, regional delegate of the Far North has reassured about the course of the school year in this part of the country, the minister asked him and other regional delegates to be vigilant, to accentuate security measures in all institutions.

To all personnel MINESEC, the Minister recommended the rigorous principles of probity and transparency in the management of funds.
