Second parliamentary session of the year to be convened on June 10

National Assembly National Assembly

Members of the Cameroonian Parliament will resume service June 10, in the context of the second regular session of the year. The presidents of the two chambers signed June 3, 2015, a decree convening their members.

The June session will have a special setup in the lower House of the National Assembly. A time will be given to celebrate the election of the Honourable Roger Nkodo Dang, Member of Nyong and Mfoumou, the Presidency of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP). The president of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril granted audience to the new president of the PAP Wednesday afternoon.

Roger Nkodo Dang said upon hearing of my presence: "he gave me advice, congratulated me for the election and also discussed the future of my duties at the Pan-African Parliament. He revealed that he will spare no effort to bring me all the support necessary to accomplish my task. The election to the top of the PAP is not the most difficult but the management of the Pan-African Parliament which causes problems", he noted.

"To do this, I need the support of this institution whose staff is highly qualified. The general Secretariat and all my colleagues were all poised so that I can win this election. I am still a Member of the National Assembly of Cameroon which may as well use me outside of my periods of sessions. I have a heavy responsibility. I could occasionally benefit from the indulgence of my hierarchy," he added.

One of the major issues of the mandate of the new president of the PAP is financial. He must travel across to lobby African States to ratify the laws to transform the PAP into a legislative structure of the African Union (AU).

Also to convince Member States to contribute to the budget of the AU. In addition, we must think to diversify the sources of financing of the PAP.
