SED: 12 Pakistanis detained on entry into Yaounde

It was around 13h this Monday, July 13, 2015, that elements of the territorial police arrested on entry into Yaounde, twelve people suspected to be Taliban.

According to information published by the newspaper L'Etendard on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, this inquiry took place at a place called Ahala barrier.

According to the newspaper, the dozen men and women of Pakistani origin were traveling to the far north of Cameroon, and "a Cameroonian of the destination Region, was improvised as their travel guide."

Arrived in Cameroon via Douala airport on June 30, they waited for two weeks to hit the road, "rather than the train or plane in Yaounde to travel to the Far North Region."

The newspaper also states: "Arriving at the entrance of the capital on Monday, the gendarmerie elements who were checking passengers' identities, discovered the men and women whose Pakistani origins aroused distrust in a security context. After their arrest, they were immediately taken to the Secretariat of State for Defence (SED) with the territorial gendarmerie group of Yaounde for investigations ".
