SDF may strike back at Kumba II mayor

The Social Democratic Front , SDF party of John Fru Ndi could be in the process of finalising a counter blow to the Mayor of the Kumba II Council in the Southwest Region Martin Forcha after the Council fired two staffers close to top party officials, The Post has learnt.

Top party officials are set to be considering mounting pressure on the SDF District Chairperson for KumbaII cum first deputy Mayor to that council Promise Chia Ful to order for elections in the ward of the present Mayor.

A source told The Post that, the party could be in the process of using it as a counter response to the recent sacking of the wife of the party’s national organising secretary FerdinandAsapngu and the bodyguard of the SDF chieftain.

Both Amadine Awah Mbanya and Dieudonne Fai were recently fired by the current Council executive in a move justified as getting the outfit more productive and accountable to the electorate.

Ndobegang The Post gathered was the ward chairman of the Fiango East Central Ward which boasts over 5oo militants.

But ever since his controversial dismissal from the party last November alongside his compatriot of Tubah Martin Tanjong in the wake of the September 30, 2013 twin elections the position still remains vacant.

According to article 18.6 of the SDF Constitution, in the event of a vacancy, the executive concerned shall make replacement subject to ratification at the next general assembly as the case may be. Article 18.7 borders on the vacancy being filled in the same manner provided for the election of set members for the same post.

Political book makers contend that, the real game could be if the national Council swings organising secretary Ferdinand Asapngu whose wife was sent out of the to action based on Article 13.13 which stipulates that, the National Organising Secretary shall be responsible for the reorganisation of the party organs at all levels, including the creation of new wards.

However, the supposed political game plan from the party needs a lot of rethink, given that, even at the local levels, there equally exist persons charged with executing certain functions.

The man on the spot who could rumble off things when the party so desires remains the District Chairman, Promise Chia, who wields all the power at that level otherwise other avenues may be employed to go through other top party officials.

Despite the silence from the SDF hierarchy on the slippery situation within the Kumba II area, The Post learnt that, the sacking of the Fru Ndi’s bodyguard robbed the party of its dignity as the second most powerful political grouping in the country.

Thus, political strategists have gone to work in search of a remedy which must not equally disintegrate the party at the local level.

The District Chairman for the SDF Kumba II Promise Chia was unavailable to comment on the issue.
