The Honourable Roger Nkodo Dang was applauded after he presided over the first ordinary session of the fourth Parliament, on Monday at Midrand.

“Something has changed with the Cameroonian Presidency,” commented Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.

In respect to the innovations introduced by the Honourable Roger Nkodo Dang, president of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) since May, 2015, the diplomat said that after his last visit which dates two years back, there has been a radical change in the decoration of the seat of the PAP. She noted among other things "the establishment of the scarf for each parliamentarian and even the wearing of the Toga by the president and the clerics.”

But in addition to these elements of decor, the Cameroonian president of the Chamber presided brilliantly at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, on October 5, 2015. It was the opening of the first session of the fourth legislature session.

It was a solemn ceremony marked by the presence of the personal representative of the Head of South African State, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane. A message read on behalf of President Jacob Zuma placed particular emphasis on the place of PAP in the resolute march of Africa to its emergence.

And especially the issues of African participation in the Paris Summit on climate change. In this regard, Roger Nkodo Dang and his Special Guest agreed to uphold a common position.

A little earlier in the morning, before the arrival and reception of the special guest, president Roger Nkodo Dang also presided over the ritual of swearing-in of 20 new members of the African Chamber. Cameroonian senators, Marie Claire Moampea and Sylvestre Naah Ondoua took the oath at the hall of the plenary Idriss Ndélé Moussa on Monday.

They are replacing Mrs Marie Rose Nguini Effa and Njingum Musa. On the list of the new members of PAP, five Burundian MPs were involved. But their designation has not yet been formally accepted by the African Union, which explained their absence.
