The former captain and defender of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon was visited by thugs in Douala and reports say the thieves made away with a briefcase containing large sum of money and valuable objects.

The incident occurred in the early afternoon on Monday, July 20, 2015 when the double African Nations Cup Champion of 2000 and 2002 experienced the unforgettable mishap at Yassa, a neighborhood located at the southern entrance of the economic capital.

Song, himself was driving his jeep and slowed by a traffic jam. He was soon recognized by fans who were quick to surround his car and began shouting his pet name; Rigo. It was then that the generous man started spraying money (faroter) to his admirers.

The bandits took the opportunity to steal a case that was on the back seat of the vehicle. Song only realized the disappearance of his briefcase much later. Rigobert Song said he lost in addition to money, jewelry valued at several million FCFA.
