Return of six Cmr'nians from Congo causes Ebola fear in the South

The return of six Cameroonians from an Ebola prone area in DRC, caused panic and fear among people living in the south.

So far, Cameroon is part of the countries spared by Ebola haemorrhagic fever, with no case reported yet by health authorities. However,people particularly in the South of the country live in fear of contracting this deadly disease.

Indeed, since September 28, six Cameroonian who stayed in the Equateur province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo returned to the country, specifically to the rubber plantations about 50 kilometres east of the town of Kribi.

Since their return to Nyete, some workers have had sleepless nights as they wondered if these people have returned without contracting the deadly Ebola or not. A native of the Western region, expressed blatant fear for his family close to where these people have come to lodge.

Sources close to the district of Kribi health centre under anonymity revealed that, they do not have data on the State of health of these people.

"We tried to join forces with Hevecam to ascertain the State of health of employees returning from Congo, but got no feedback," says our source.

The head of communication of Hevecam S.A, Adélaïde Ambassa, contacted via phone, confessed to not having any information on them.

Meanwhile, within the confines of the equatorial forest where game and people rub shoulders every day, each and everyone need to be reassured, pending the preparation of vaccine against Ebola haemorrhagic fever.
