The campaign against measles will be organized in 27 health districts from August 25 to 30, 2015 in Adamawa, Centre, Littoral, North, Northwest, West and South of Cameroon.

This is a result of a press release announcing the outbreak of measles in the Cameroonian territory.

The Permanent Secretary of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Dr Marie Kobela, spoke of the merits of vaccination to parents over CRTV-tv. Those concerned are: children from nine months to ten years old.

The vaccine is given by injection. She also mentioned several symptoms like red mouth, red nose and white points on the interior of the mouth.

Measles is a contagious viral disease and deadly in children under five. In Cameroon, it is prevented through prevention campaigns that take place every three years.

The said statement was issued by the Cameroon Minister of Public Health, André Mama Fouda. He urged all parents to take their children to the hospital if they suspect a case of measles.
