Regional Task Force Regional Task Force

Cameroonian Brigadier, General Bouba Dobekreo, has been officially installed as the head of the first sector of the Multinational Force of the Lake Chad Basin Commission to fight against Nigerians Islamists (Boko Haram) on Friday, reported Cameroon State radio (CRTV).

The senior officer was "installed (at Mora, extreme north of Cameroon) by the Commander in Chief of the " multinational joint force (MJF), the Nigerian General Iliassou Issa Abba, stated the CRTV.

The Commander in Chief of the DMF subsequently returned to Nigeria to install the sector commander of the 2nd coalition based in Gamboru (Nigerian border town of Cameroon), then the head of the 3rd sector established in Baga, Nigerian town on the shores of Lake Chad.

Bouba Dobekreo was promoted to the rank of General on August 13 before being sent the next day to the head of the command of the first sector of the MJF.

This coalition will have more than 10,000 men. The troops will come from Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Benin. Cameroon announced that it would provide a contingent of 2,450 men.

Benin had already announced its intention of sending 800 men at the disposal of the force whose deployment is still expected.

According to CRTV, the MJF "will help resolve the issue of the right of pursuit" of forces beyond their borders that has always been pointed out as a major limitation in the fight against Boko Haram.

Extreme - Northern Cameroon is the regular target of deadly raids and kidnappings carried out by Boko Haram insurgents, who now use suicide bombings, previously unreleased in this country for two years.

Thus, seven suicide bombings hit the region since July, killing more than 90 people.
