Rebellion of the North is a fantasy - Marafa Hamidou Yaya

In an exclusive interview conducted by correspondence, published in Jeune Afrique No. 2803, Marafa Hamidou Yaya, former Cameroonian Minister of Territorial Administration, formally denies fomenting a rebellion in the North of the country and accused the Government of seeking means to permanently silence him.

Jeune Afrique was granted this interview by correspondence with the most famous inmate of Cameroon. "The rebellion of the North is a fantasy," Marafa Hamidou Yaya indicated, from the cell where he is being held from November 2012.

Former Secretary general of the Presidency of Cameroon, former Minister of Territorial Administration, Marafa Hamidou Yaya is serving a 25 years sentence in a cell of the Secretariat of State for defence (SED) for "intellectual complicity" in misappropriation of public funds in the matter of the aborted purchase of a presidential plane.
