RAM becomes the official carrier to Écrans noirs Festival

Moroccan airline, Royal Air Morocco (RAM), and the Écrans Noirs Association signed a partnership agreement under which the RAM will become the official carrier for the next three editions (2015- 2016 - 2017) of the Écrans Noirs on Thursday in Yaoundé.

According to a statement by RAM, the company will transport participants of the festival which is a major event for the promotion of cinema in Africa.

“The conclusion of this partnership reflects the resolve of the national company to develop the African identity, through the strengthening of cultural ties on the continent and promotion of the image of Africa,” said RAM.

In this regard, Royal Air Morocco said they support the major cultural and artistic events in Africa. Besides the Écrans Noirs Festival, the Moroccan national airline is the official carrier of FESPACO (Pan African Festival of Cinema and Television), the Dakar Biennial (Dak'Art) and MASA (Market arts and African show) of Abidjan.

Established in 1997, the International Film Festival aims to promote the African Cinema and foreign films on Africa, particularly, in Central Africa. This is to make the continent known and loved through the distribution of films and recovery of direct business and annexes that constitute them.

Since 2008, it became a competitive festival dedicated to creativity and especially talent. Thus the Écrans Noirs association deployed intense training activities which begun with‘cinema classes’. It resulted in the establishment of the Institute of Specialized Training craft of Cinema and Audiovisual of Central Africa (ISCAC), Yaoundé in September 2010.

Since its launch, the Écrans Noirs festival has attracted 255,000 moviegoers, 1,140 films with 2,368 screenings in theaters and outdoors as well as 38 awards and prizes awarded since 2008. Some 518 guests from 41 African countries, Europe, America and Asia have also participated.
