Public prosecutor's office adjudicates Ambassa Zang case

The case between public prosecutor and State of Cameroon (sealed) against Dieudonné Télesphore Ambassa Zang, former Minister of Public Works, Félix Debeauplan Mekongo Abega, contractual framework of administration in service at Mintp, accused of misappropriation of public funds and Scholastique Henriette Simone Bikié, Assistant Director of human resources in the said Ministry, Jean Robert Mengue Meka Secretary-General and Pierre Germain Nnah Obono, delegate of public works at Abong-Mbang accused of complicity of embezzlement of public funds is gradually moving to its end.

At the hearing which took place last Tuesday at the CHT, the public prosecutor after his indictment record asked the court to declare the accused guilty of embezzlement of public funds.

For the defendants, each having submitted as witness under oath, the general counsel recalled that the offences are indivisible though distinctly committed because they seek the same goal: embezzlement of public funds.

"Financial embezzlement were committed both in the implementation of the budget than in the special work of 2003-2006. With the exhibits", noted the general counsel.

Concerning the observations of the advice of the civil party, Me Blanche Renée, Council for Mintp, it appears that certain sums have been managed without supporting documents.

Scholastique Henriette Simone Bikié, for example, accused of embezzlement of 28,952 million paying the cost of mission staff with no serial number of balance without a signature. And that the 7,672 million managed by the accused, for the functioning of the Steering Committee of the Sigipes, had been used for other purposes since the Committee had not actually worked.

Despite his confession, it must answer for the diversion of the total sum of 36,624 million F. also, Pierre Germain Nnah Obono produced neither minutes nor account management in the rehabilitation of the Kobdombo bridge and a tray of Somalomo and must therefore respond to 40,930 million diverted F and Jean Robert Mengue Meka accused of embezzlement of 153,730 million for the acquisition of obsolete computer equipment. The hearing was suspended and will be resumed on May 26.
