Project HIMO: 3500 jobs to be created soon

The pilot phase of this project was launched Tuesday in Maroua, regional capital of the Far North, in the presence of Annick Girardin, French Secretary of State for Development and the Francophonie.

12 towns in the Far North are involved in the pilot phase of "High Intensity of Manpower Operation (HIMO)." A response to the implementation of the regional planning program.

Among other expected results at the end of this first phase is the creation of about 3 500 jobs, training and social integration of 3000 youths and especially the improvement of transport infrastructure coverage and drinking water supply.

For the French Secretary of State for Development and the Francophonie, the HIMO programme is one of the answers brought by France to the problems currently in the Far North region. "This type of project shows how important it is also to the heart of our youth development strategies," she told the local correspondent of the national radio, CRTV.

Annick Girardin also took advantage of the launch of this project in the Far North to reiterate the full support of France to the people of this region prey to the exactions of the terrorist sect Boko Haram. "France in 2015 brought a total of 1.4 billion CFA francs. In addition there is also a financial contribution of 900 million we brought directly to UNHCR to intervene with the refugees," she revealed.

Yaouba Abdoulaye, the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Administration who took part in the ceremony, welcomed all development actions led by France alongside Cameroon. The labor-intensive approach understood as humanitarian action strategy to invest in projects that promote the employment of local people, create jobs primarily for unskilled labor allows foreign exchange savings.

The HIMO approach frees the government of a number of tasks (cleaning, laying cobblestones, development of roads, the road surface and sidewalks, sanitation ... ) and allows it to focus on more important tasks.
