Prices under supervision towards the fight against high cost of living

The Minister of Trade, Wednesday in Yaoundé alerted traders on the dangers of inflation.

Traders from Acacias, Mvog-Mbi, Essos and the Mfoundi markets in Yaoundé were surprised and amazed Wednesday with a visit by Trade Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, in their workplaces.

It was therefore in jubilation that they listened with an attentive ear the Minister's message.

Two days after the readjustment of fuel prices and the price of domestic gas in preparation for the next school year, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana met with traders on the need to stabilize the prices of consumer products in the markets.

The goal was to preserve the purchasing power of consumers, by practicing the right price. It was also to prevent all forms of speculation or organization of artificial shortages. This was to allow everyone to eat his fill.

According to Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, during the next six months, the prices of food products must know no increase.

"After yesterdays consultation with importers and wholesalers in the main sectors of large consumer products, it appears that foodstuffs such as rice, fish, refined oil, flour and sugar are well present until the end of the year.

"So, at their level, there will be no shortage and even less of the price increase", explained the Minister. To avoid any inflation of the prices of these commodities, the Minister wanted to reassure traders that there are enough products and as a result, prices in markets should remain stable.

To achieve and preserve the purchasing power of consumers which is already low, the Minister advocated peace, mutual trust, group work and the effective organization of traders.

"A market where consumers are not deceived, which is organized and where fair price is practiced and which inevitably contributes to respect of price," said Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana. Traders have also expressed their concern about the increase of fuel prices and their impact on the transport of food products.

The Minister also promised to continue the Organization of markets to continue their supply. In addition, traders said that disorder and vandalism will not from them.
