Pressmen urged to promote tourism

Public and private media men and women were offered a touristic trip by the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure on Sunday, October 18, 2015.

The trip which was organized at the Ebogo village in the Nyong and So Division of the Centre Region fell in line with government’s plan of merging Sporting activities and Leisure.

The Ministry of Tourism and Leisure, by organizing this tour, wished that media men and women discover the beauties of the Ebogo village so they can better sensitize the bulk of the population to get interested in touristic activities in the country.

Official statistics stated that out of the over 1000 touristic sites that exists in Cameroon, 856 have been identified with close to 150 exploited.

The men and women explored the Ebogo touristic endowments including the forest situated at the banks of the 800km river Nyong which is the second largest river in Cameroon after river Sanaga.

In the heart of the forests is the Kossipo tree which is a site of attraction to many a tourist.

The tree which has existed for 1300 years is rich with some medicinal values capable of curing malaria and it is believed to have served generations of the Ebogo community.

The trip which comes on the hills of the Chantal Biya Cycling Tour was worth appreciating by the media men and women.
