In the aftermath of the two suicide bombings in Fotokol (Far North)on Sunday, the President of the Republic not only condemned the act as "cowardly and odious" but has also recommended some firm instructions for new security measures.

The statement by the Minister and Secretary General of the Presidency on behalf of the president indicated that the Head of State "gave the defense forces and security some firm instructions on what to do for an increased security of our country."

The governor of the Far North region explained that there will be a systematic check of vehicles including the boots. There will also be a ban on motorcycle traffic, night traffic, vehicles with tinted windows, and on the use of veils.

Other measures which will come out from the security meeting chaired by the Minister for the Presidency in charge of Defence (MINDEF), Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o, will be added to the already existing ones today.

In the western region, the prefect of the Noun division issued a press release for the same course.

This document stated that anyone who uses the veil to cover the and thus can not be identified for reasons known to him or herself should stay at home. It includes not travelling on public roads, using public transportation, attending large gathering places such as markets, train stations, cemetery, hospitals, health centers and many others.

Furthermore, the order by the prefect forbids trade with anyone whose face is covered or to make and sell any item whose purpose is to prevent a person from being identified.

Given the fact that the new safety measures may cause some inconvenience to the people, the Mindef recently assured that "the new measures given by the Head of State are not vexatious. They are simply to more or less help prevent terrorist attacks."

Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o appealed to all Cameroonians to cooperate by being vigilant and report any suspicious behavior around them.
