The remains of a pregnant woman, in her thirties, was found in her room at the Ngangue neighbourhood in Douala, on October 14, 2015.

The woman, who was later known as Blandine Youli, was a housewife and mother of a 7-year-old child.

Twenty four hours after such discovery, the neighbours are still reeling. According to eyewitness' accounts, the victim was last seen on Monday, October 12, 2015, around 11 pm.

"On the morning of the same day, she was healthy. She showed no signs of illness or discomfort. I also saw her boarding a motorcycle on Monday morning, "said a local resident.

"She had gone missing for two days. It was the odour from her room that alerted those around her. It was approximately at 7 pm on October 14, 2015. Her relatives who were informed rushed to the scene."

Officers from the Second District of the police arrive on the scene and her door was forced open. A pool of blood covered the white bedsheets on the mattress. Blood was also spread on the floor, yet the victim bled from the mouth at the time her body was discovered. The idea of abortion was immediately rejected by his relatives.

"She spoke with pride of her pregnancy and was eager to bring this child. We must know what happened," said one of her relatives. Her body was wrapped in a cloth and taken to the Douala Laquintinie hospital morgue.

On the spot, "the doctor asked the householder to provide certain documents so that an autopsy will be carried out to determine the actual cause of this death," recalled her brother.

Blandine Youli was the eldest daughter of a family of five children. She was from Yabassi and has left her mother, Suzanne Ebenye, and all her brothers in sorrow.

"It is only an autopsy can reveal the actual cause of death," her relatives conferred.
