Poor corpses mgt at Lagbaba Hosp morgue angers families

The Logbaba district hospital, in the 3rd District of Douala was in turmoil Thursday, September 25, 2014. Families of deceased people demonstrated inside the health centre over poor corpse management.

They were protesting against the deterioration of the bodies deposited in the morgue. According to witnesses, some corpses were in an advanced state of decomposition. "All the bodies to be removed today were unrecognisable, because they were not poorly preserved."

They were all bad and had exceeded the size of the provided coffins," said a witness.

He added that the hospital administration had to "negotiate" with angry families to accept to take the three bodies to be removed Thursday; Information that was partly challenged by the Chief Medical Officer of the Hospital of Logbaba.

Dr. Charles Soffeu argued that this corpse which arrives 24 hours after death, suffered more blackouts. What he said has helped accelerate and accentuated the already initiated decomposition. Several testimonies of people met at the hospital this Friday confirmed the words of the Chief Medical Officer.
