The trial of Polycarpe Abah Abah, former Minister of Economy and Finance (MINEFI), was postponed to December 3 and 4, says a source close to the case.

The hearing on Monday, November 9, was not held at the Special Criminal Court (TCS). In the absence of the prosecution witness and the irregularity of the composition of the collegiality, the trial was postponed to December 3 and 4.

Polycarpe Abah Abah, former Minister of Economy and Finance of Cameroon between 2004-2008, arrested as part of operation "hawk" for the embezzlement of 1.8 billion FCFA.

The public funds would have ended up in his personal account at the Commercial Bank of Cameroon in 2000. Funds were diverted while he held the position of Director of Taxes (April 1999-December 2004).

He criticized the "non-payment" of the VAT due at the Cfc. He rejected accusations that his lawyers knew that the money has actually been repaid quarterly until September 2003, in the state coffers.

The former Minefi, serving a sentence of 25 years in prison since January 13, 2015, for another case, has been listed since March 2015, as a "political prisoner" by the Liberation Committee of political prisoners in Cameroon (CL2P), an NGO which moved to France.
