Police Commissioner suspended for being 'impolite'

Police Police

The Commissioner of Public Safety of Mbouda, Pierre Tamo, was suspended from his duties for a period of three months on September 7.

The suspension follows an act that infringed on the consideration of the police corps which he committed on September 5, 2015.

According to the explanations provided by the regional delegation of the Western Region for national safety, Simon Mbankwene Zimbi, the officer prevented the vehicle of the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, from leaving the headquarters of Mbouda's party. This was after a socio-economic meeting chaired by Minepat himself. The meeting was on the development of the Department of Bamboutos.

His reason was that, he was not informed of the meeting. After verification, the meeting had indeed been authorized by the sub-prefect of Mbouda, Yves Bertrand Awounfac Alienou.

“This suspension announced by the DGSN, Martin Mbarga Nguele, included a holdup of his pay. After three months, the concerned will appear before a Disciplinary Committee. His fate will be decided after that,” noted our source.

During his suspension, the new Commissioner of Public Safety of Mbouda is Pierre Mezeupo, a senior police officer. He was officially installed to this position on Tuesday by the Divisional Commissioner, Simon Mbankwene Zimbi.

The latter recommended to him a collaboration with the people and the strengthening of the security of persons and property, with respect to individual freedom. Before that, he officiated as first Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety in Mbouda.
