The head of the Cameroon police has acknowledged his mistake of some days past when he visited the North to install the new regional delegates of National Security. Martin Mbarga Nguélé ordered the payment of bonuses to heads of regional police units (150 000 FCFA) and their deputies (100,000 FCFA).

But very quickly, teeth were gnashing as employees of the DGNS responsible for making the payments had decided to give the bonuses only to police officers present during the installation ceremony. This created frustration.

The police chief wanted to rectify the situation and according to the newspaper l’Œil du Sahel of October 12, 2015, the DGNS gave the information in Bertoua, the capital of the Eastern Region, on 7 and 8 October while the new regional representative.

"Before installing the new regional delegate of National Security of the East, Assa Eric Che, the police boss reassured that all police officials in service in the region, were actually invited to regional capital," reports the newspaper.

Former Ambassador of Cameroon to Spain also took another important step: "In addition, to qualify for the bonus of 150,000 CFA francs for unit leaders and 100,000 CFA francs for their assistants, there was no need to attend the working session he chaired as was decreed at Maroua and Ngaoundere," writes the newspaper that analysed that this is a mea-culpa.

A measure that obviously delighted the beneficiaries, as evidenced by the testimony of a police officer contacted by the newspaper: "This is a great leader. He acknowledged that the distribution of bonuses was not done right in the Far North and he was keen to rectify it. We say thank you," said the police chief.
