Pilgrims frustrated by Camair-Co at Garoua Int'l Airport

Returning from Mecca, Cameroonian pilgrims made a sit-in at Garoua international airport.

The 2014 edition of Hajj was not a good memory for pilgrims from the far North. Arriving at Garoua 20 October around 3 o'clock in the morning, the 300 pilgrims who were in flight found that all their luggage remained in Saudi Arabia.

The pilgrims were unable to hold back their anger. Exhausted by the long journey, they stormed the offices of Camair-Co in the Garoua International Airport. "It is necessary that they explain how our luggage were able to stay out there and after all costs had been paid",.

"Our families came from far to pick us up in Garoua, but we cannot leave the airport without our luggage," an angry pilgrim noted.

After several hours of negotiations, Camair-Co officials who did not want to comment on the incident, pledged to charter a special flight for the search of the luggage of the pilgrims in Mecca. They also promised to support pilgrims stay at Garoua while awaiting the arrival of their parcels.
