Paul Biya receives the US Ambassador to Cameroon

President Paul Biya granted audience on Thursday noon to the ambassador of USA in Cameroon, Michael Stephen Hoza. The meeting with the American diplomat at the Unity Palace lasted nearly an hour and a half focusing on "Peace, stability and prosperity".

This was disclosed by Ambassador Hoza to the press adding that the Head of State, Paul Biya and himself agreed to work together against Boko Haram. They agreed on working together in the emergence of Cameroon which will strengthen partnership with the United States.

Returning from Garoua on Monday, Stephen Michael Hoza confirmed that three hundred American soldiers are in Cameroon as part of the fight against Boko Haram.

"It is a strategic mission and very important," according to him adding that it is a contribution that benefits all the countries in the front line (Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger).

The American plenipotentiary welcomed the reception given to the contingent both on the part of the defense forces and Cameroonian populations. He said that the two female members of the group were celebrated by the women of Garoua and adorned in traditional dresses during the ceremony.

He remarked that the two female soldiers said it was "an extraordinary experience they never experienced before." It should be noted that in the emergence of terrorism, military cooperation between Cameroon and the United States has skyrocketed.

In the aftermath of the deployment of 300 US military in Cameroon, General David M. Rodriguez, commander of the US Central Command for Africa (AFRICOM) stayed in Yaoundé where he was received in audience by the Head of State on Friday, October 16, 2015.

The same day he had handed the Minister for the Presidency in charge of Defence a gift from the United States to Cameroon specifically six armored vehicles. It is on this occasion that Stephen Michael Hoza, who accompanied the commander, said: "When the United States say we are together in the fight against Boko Haram it is not just empty words, but tangible facts."
