Paul Biya congratulates Nigerian president

Paul Biya Paul Biya

The Cameroonian President in a letter has congratulated his Nigerian counterpart towards the victory of one of his citizens who won as head of the ADB (African Development Bank) during an election held at Palais des Congrès in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

“I include my best wishes to Mr. Akinwumi Adesina in fulfilling his mandate as head of the prestigious African financial institution. Kindest regards Mr. Chairman and my dear brother, I give them my utmost respect”, concluded President Paul Biya of the Republic of Cameroon in the letter that was made public on June 6, 2015.

This letter appeared at a time where the absence of the Cameroonian Head of State at the appointment of Jonathan Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe’s successor on March 29 continues to stir controversy.

Paul Biya’s decision not to attend Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration in his capacity as Head of State has convinced observers that the relationship between the two does not go beyond diplomacy; although they are fighting for the same course against the Islamic sect Boko Haram alongside neighboring countries like Niger and Chad.
