Paul Biya condemns the cowardly attack on Fotokol

The Cameroonian government has released an official statement on the terrorist attacks in Cameroon which has been attributed to Boko Haram.

In a statement published early evening of that Monday, July 13, 2015, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Minister and Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic confirmed that Cameroon had suffered two suicide bombing attacks.

He later disclosed the number of casualties pegging it at 13 which includes 10 civilians, a Chadian soldier and two perpetrators of the two terrorist attacks.

"The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, condemned these cowardly and heinous attacks. He extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and expresses his deepest sympathy, concern for the wounded and the suffering people," informed Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh.

After Nigeria and Chad, the insurgents added Cameroon to the list of their suicide bombing targets.

Below is the reaction of the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon:

The statement was via the Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency.

"Last Sunday, July 12, 2015, two criminal explosions caused by two suicide bombers occurred at 19 h 00 and 19 h 05 at Fotokol, a Cameroonian locality opposite the Nigerian city of Gambarou.

The result of these attacks was the death of thirteen people including ten civilians, a Chadian military and the two suicide bombers and seven wounded; four Chadian soldiers and three Cameroonian soldiers.

The President of the Republic, HE Paul Biya, strongly condemns these cowardly and heinous attacks.

He extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and expresses his deepest concern to the wounded and people suffering.

The president gave the defense forces and security firm instructions on what to do for an increased security of our country.

He urges people to be extremely vigilant and reaffirms his determination to make every effort to ensure that Cameroon remains in peace, security and serenity as well as security reinforcement."
