Paul Biya avoids Mayors who came to express gratitude

Mayors Mayors

At the initiative of the president of the Association of United Councils and Cities of Cameroon, Emile Andze Andze and other Mayors met on September 22, 2015, to discuss a 'special way' to thank the president at the conference Hall in Yaoundé.

According to the daily La Nouvelle Expression edition of Wednesday, September 30, 2015, “this meeting was the starting point of a march, which was intended to end at the gates of the Unity Palace.”

It was a walk to say “thank you” to President Paul Biya, for fixed wages and other granted substantial benefits to the Mayors. The opportunity was too good to many locally elected officials who “dreamt of seeing Paul Biya closely for the first time.”

Unfortunately, throughout the day, “they gnawed their brake without really knowing what they were doing there. The walk project became futile. The journal revealed that the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, René Emmanuel Sadi came to "Liberate them" later in the evening. This was a big disappointment for the organisers as "the walk, both desired and anticipated by some opportunistic Mayors, did not take place.”
