Less than a few days before the start of classes and yet some parents have not yet found an enrollment for their children.

Recently, premises public as well as private schools have been invaded by desperate parents. In a private institution in Yaoundé, the administration of that school carried out an enrollment exercise for new students. Hence, the secretariat was always full.

"This situation was witnessed since Monday. As it is always the case at every school, many parents wait for the last minute to register their children", noted the Manager. While in public schools, enrollment and recruitment will start only at the beginning of September.

At Lycée de Ngoa-Ekelle, Gisèle Flore Ewolo, revealed that she was now receiving admission documents. But she will have to wait for the fees to pay which will be out this week. This makes the situation more complicated for this parent of a student who hoped to find the solution for her two children before school reopens. With their report booklets in hand, she waited with many others at the office of the principal.

"I cannot even buy uniforms and books. I'm waiting to be certain about the fate of our children", said Arnold Essama puzzled. His daughter, a form 3 student, had to be removed from her former high school because of her poor grades and his eldest son, after another attempt at the baccalaureate, has been disqualified from high school.

This situation is however not insulated. Parents who moved to other cities are also in the same situation. It is the same as those parents who have not yet found money for registration and other school items.

Madeleine M.,a petty trader admitted that she is still in search of funds to ensure the enrollment of her offspring. “It's really hard, I have five children and two are in high school and the last three in primary school. None is yet registered due to lack of financial means. My business serves to feed the children and to buy some books. With respect to the registration, I appealed to some members of my family who have promised to help me before school resumes,” concluded the mother.
