Paluxi Energy announces a 500 MW wind project in Cameroon

The Emirati firm, Paluxi Energy, and the Cameroonian Ministry of Energy and Water signed a memorandum of understanding for the implementation of a project in Cameroon for the production of wind energy with a capacity of 500 MW in total, reliable sources informed.

Specifically, it will be to build on the coastal area of the country, including the cities of Kribi and Douala, several wind farms of 100 MW of capacity each. On the ground, this project will be launched in February 2016, Arsène Manga Bilounga, DG of Paluxi Energy Cameroon.

The project will cost about 60 billion FCFA, according to its promoters. Funding will come from a pool of international banks. As a reminder, wind energy is still non-existent in Cameroon.

The first project was announced by the Cameroonian government in the Bamboutos Mountains, the West of the country, for a capacity of 42 MW.
